Care Directions takes the Omega Test
YE is a founding director of Care Directions. She is aged 59 and, apart from an overactive thyroid, is in good health. For some years YE has sparodically taken Omega/Fish Oil supplements – in various brands and forms. She has never really appraised dosages.
Care Directions was introduced to Dr. Tom Gilhooly of The Essential Health Clinic and learnt about the unique Omega test. It seemed the perfect opportunity to nominate YE as a test guinea pig! Dr. Gilhooly confirmed that the only source of Omega 3 was certain types of oily, free swimming fish – not farm reared salmon! Knowing that YE disliked eating fish, Dr. Gilhooly's recommendation was for YE to start taking a high dose of Omega 3 – in the form of 2gms EPA daily. Dr. Gilhooly stated that a programme put in place for 3 months would do the trick – and advised that, after that, the benefits would continue for as long as the supplements were taken. "Unlike other blood tests, this one gives solid results, which are very consistent," commented Dr. Gilhooly. "This test does not, therefore, need to be repeated frequently. It is an investment in your future health and one or two tests are all that is required to get the maximum out of Omega 3 supplementation."
